What You'll Be Doing
- Financial accounting and reporting: Review monthly management accounts including income statement and variance analysis, balance sheet and related reconciliations, intercompany billing calculations to ensure appropriate billing across entities and in line with contracts; review of prepayments and accruals to ensure all costs are billed.
- Review all Trial balances for completeness.
- Review open items reports to ensure all transactions are reconciled, and queries resolved timeously, and all creditors paid timeously.
- Follow up with team on long outstanding items.
- Ensure notes are done.
- Query any anomalies and provide commentary on the accounts for review by the Senior Finance Manager.
- Ensure standardization of reporting and schedules across all entities.
- Review and update summaries of income statement, balance sheet and open items (e.g. Opex report, balance notes).
- Review commentary for accuracy and completeness.
- Property Company Management: Manage financial aspects of property acquisitions, dispositions, and lease agreements.
- Collaborate with property portfolio manager to optimize revenue, control costs, and enhance asset value.
- Provide financial support for property development and capital improvement projects.
- Financial Reporting And Analysis: Prepare and present financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections for the property company and facilities team.
- Conduct regular financial reviews and performance assessments, providing insights for strategic decision‑making.
- FloQast Management: Ensure FloQast requirements and deadlines are met monthly, quarterly and annually.
- Ensure relevant preparers complete FloQast tasks accurately and timely.
- First review of relevant income statement and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Corporate Governance And Compliance: Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices in all financial operations.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to implement robust internal controls and risk management frameworks.
- Serve as a liaison for internal and external audits, providing documentation and support for audit processes.
- Assist with quarterly and annual audit files.
- Communicate with auditors to resolve audit queries.
- Ensure controls are documented and implemented for SOX compliance.
- Manage contract-related processes including updating contract matrices and internal billing.
- Funds And Assets Management: Run weekly Open Item Reports, query long outstanding items, approve weekly payments, ensure timely supplier and intergroup payments.
- Capitalize items appropriately to the Property, Plant and Equipment register and ensure depreciation.
- Ensure system development capitalization and amortization as applicable.
- Robust And Critical Systems And Controls: Ensure Business Central, TM1 and other systems operate effectively.
- Investigate and recommend improvements for efficiencies.
- Ensure accounting aligns with Group policies.
- Draft process notes to ensure business continuity.
- Team Management: Day-to-day management of the financial accounting team.
- Coordinate team activities to ensure timely reporting.
- Conduct bi‑annual appraisals and performance reviews.
- Ensure deliverables are met on time.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to direct reports.
- Set team objectives bi‑annually.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate issues proactively.
- Ad Hoc: Other duties as required to achieve business objectives and this job description is not exhaustive; you may be required to complete other reasonable duties.
Essential Skills You'll Bring To The Table
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CA(SA), CIMA) a plus.
- Proven experience in financial management.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a team.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Knowledge of IFRS.
Desirable Skills You've Got Up Your Sleeve
- Experience in Navision / BCTM1 / Cognos Confluence.
- Experience in reviewing AFS.
- Experience with the financial management of a property company, leases and related operations.
