Job summary

A national supplier of quality products is seeking an AMF Production Technician to manage and monitor equipment for optimal production. The ideal candidate will have a sound mechanical and electrical background with a minimum of 4 to 6 years in process engineering within FMCG. Key responsibilities include maintaining deboning yield, planning maintenance, ensuring quality, and managing a large production team. Preference will be given to designated groups as per the Employment Equity Act.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience in process engineering and managing a production team in FMCG.
• Poultry experience is an added advantage.

Job Description

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of AMF Production Technician for its Commercial division. The successful incumbents will report directly to the Processing Shift Leader. NQF Level 6 technical certificate, Mechanical/Electrical Trade diploma is a requirement, 4 - 6 years’ experience hands‑on process engineering and managing a production team in an FMCG environment with sound technical background knowledge is essential. Poultry experience will be an added advantage. This position carries the TASK grade of T11.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, set up and monitor AMF equipment to achieve required deboning yield/ratio 100% of the shift.
• Plan and schedule all required maintenance schedules, inspect, and sign off on completion.
• Ensure that the Temporary Employment Service Providers are supplying the required skills & resources in line with the agreed budgets.
• Drive quality in products produced.
• Liaise directly with Marel Technical and Process specialist when debone yield/ratio and bone free fillet products targets are not achieved.
• Implement and maintain good manufacturing practices throughout the process.
• Maximize profitability through the production of the agreed optimal sales mix.
• Maintain a high level of discipline.
