Underwriting Assistant

Singapore

The Underwriting Assistant will be a team player within the Middle Office team and will perform tasks that support the Underwriting team. As owner and principal facilitator of assigned accounts, the Underwriting Assistant will perform front-to-end activities throughout the life-cycle of renewal and prospect accounts from submission to expiration. The Underwriting Assistant will be engaged in ongoing development of his/her knowledge of commercial insurance related to his/her specialized line of business.

What you’ll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Proactive engagement, providing support to various underwriting business and ensuring:
    • information received is understood and complete in order to process policies
    • the administrative processes for the end to end policy lifecycle are run efficiently to support internal and external stakeholders for new and renewed accounts
    • data quality and compliance with internal standards & guidelines and statutory requirements
  • Ensure timely and complete documentation of underwriting files for traceability and audit purposes
  • Work collaboratively with the offshore shared services team to ensure timely requests of quotes, name clearance and accurate binding of quotes and other adhoc tasks.
  • For global programs, the role holder would work across different geographies and product lines to set up and administer large global programs.
  • Foster positive relationship with internal/external counterparts to get a mutual understanding of their needs
  • Timely and accurate updates on monthly and adhoc reporting
  • Any other projects or adhoc tasks assigned by Team Lead or Manager from time to time

You will report to the Middle Office Team Lead, Singapore.

  • At least diploma and/or hold relevant insurance certification or is studying to achieve their certification
  • Related insurance experience will be an advantage. Candidates without experience with interest in insurance will also be considered.
  • Able to communicate effectively, provide guidance and seek input from internal and external stakeholders in a fast paced environment
