Job description
JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Expert (Sputtering Target) is responsible for maximizing the efficiency and stability of powder metallurgy production processes (e.g., Sintering, Hot Pressing) used in the manufacturing of sputtering targets. The role applies advanced manufacturing, engineering, and scientific principles to support new equipment development, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position also provides technical support for internal teams and customers.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
  1. Lead and manage the powder metallurgy production line, ensuring stable and efficient operations.
  2. Develop, optimize, and validate Hot Press and Sintering procedures, operating parameters, and process controls.
  3. Maintain and improve process stability, focusing on in-process quality enhancement and yield improvement.
  4. Take ownership of assigned products and customers, driving cost-down initiatives and continuous process optimization.
  5. Collaborate with the Quality and Sales teams to provide technical support for new products and to resolve customer complaints.
  6. Analyse and troubleshoot process engineering issues, recommend corrective solutions, and support implementation.
  7. Participate in new product development, including DOE design, timeline planning (Gantt charts), and trial execution.
  8. Coordinate with China HQ on technical matters, process improvements, and product-related developments.
  9. Provide necessary technical support to the Sales team for new product introduction (NPI) and customer technical inquiries.
  10. Lead or assist cross‑functional teams in finding solutions to technical problems.
  11. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by MD, including but not limited to the above.
COMPETENCIES/ JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  1. Strong understanding of productivity improvement and industrial engineering principles related to powder metallurgy production lines.
  2. Fully trained in ISO standards; responsible for SPC, Control Plans, FMEA, APQP, and related quality system documentation. Knowledge of IATF standards is an added advantage.
  3. Hands‑on experience in troubleshooting machineries or production equipment is preferred.
  4. Understanding of trace elements, gas content, microstructures, and physical characteristics relevant to powder metallurgy sputtering targets.
  5. Proficient in designing DOE studies and preparing Gantt charts for R&D.
  6. Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with China HQ and cross‑functional teams (verbal and written).
  7. Able to provide technical support to the Sales team for new products, NPI, and customer discussions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  1. Master's Degree in Materials Engineering or a related field.
  2. Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in powder metallurgy, materials processing, or a similar technical discipline.
  3. Preferably with experience in Engineering (Industrial), Manufacturing, or related specialization.
  4. Practical experience in powder metallurgy involving metals, alloys, sintering, or hot pressing is required.
  5. Strong knowledge in metallurgy, melting, casting, materials processing, and related engineering fundamentals.
  6. Ability to manage remotely across different countries and cultures.
  7. Experience in regional expansion projects is advantageous.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  1. Fluent in English.
  2. Mandarin proficiency is required due to frequent interaction with China counterparts.
  3. Willingness to travel as required.
