A leading global industrial gas company in Singapore is seeking a motivated Engineer for Semiconductor Specialty Gases related engineering. This role involves planning, installing, and providing technical coordination for equipment and systems. Candidates need a relevant engineering degree, strong initiative, and 5+ years of industry experience, particularly in plant processes. Proficiency in AutoCAD and good communication skills are essential, and the role may require travel across the SEA+I region.
Our client, a global industrial gas giant, seeks to hire motivated and passionate individual to work as an Engineer of Semiconductor Specialty Gases related engineering at the regional headquarters. This position will assist in supporting and coordinating SSG Engineering activities in the SEA+I region.
The SSG Equipment & Installation Engineer is responsible for planning, installing, commissioning, and providing technical coordination for equipment and facility systems related to Semiconductor Specialty Gases (SSG). The role primarily covers gas supply systems, specialty gas cabinets, bulk and specialty gas piping, point-of use equipment, abatement systems, and associated facility engineering. Working under the guidance of the Engineering Department Head and Manager, the engineer supports group companies across the SEA+I region in executing engineering projects, maintaining technical standards, and ensuring safety and compliance in all installation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Equipment & System Engineering
Support engineering design for SSG supply systems, including gas cabinets, valve manifold boxes, purifiers, bulk storage, and abatement equipment. Prepare basic engineering drawings and documentation (P&ID, layout, utility requirements, etc.). Assist in technical evaluation of equipment specifications and vendor proposals.
2. Installation & Construction Support
Support installation planning and on-site coordination for SSG-related equipment and gas piping systems. Assist with supervising contractors during installation, ensuring compliance with design, safety standards, and quality guidelines. Conduct site surveys, installation checks, and pre-commissioning inspections.
3. Piping & Facility Work Coordination
Assist in reviewing gas piping designs, material specifications, routing, and interfaces with facility utilities. Support leak checks, purging, integrity tests, and system validation.
4. Commissioning & Start-Up Assistance
Support commissioning tasks including functional checks, system verification, and start-up procedures. Document test results, punch lists, and as-built updates.
5. Project Coordination
Communicate regularly with project leaders across group companies to gather progress updates and identify technical issues. Coordinate required information to support adherence to project timelines.
6. Technical Support to Group Companies
Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting, minor upgrades, and maintenance recommendations. Support group companies in understanding installation standards and semiconductor facility requirements.
7. Supplier & Vendor Coordination
Support evaluation and selection of equipment vendors and installation contractors. Assist in maintaining supplier contacts for SSG equipment and related engineering services.
8. Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure installation work adheres to semiconductor safety standards, gas handling regulations, and company guidelines. Collaborate with safety and productivity teams to identify improvements in installation quality, operational efficiency, and safety measures.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Diploma holders in Engineering with more than 5 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
5 years of working experience in plant processes within the gas or chemical industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD software.
Strong initiative, self‑motivation, and the ability to work independently with a results‑oriented mindset.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in technical discussions.
Good command of English in both spoken and written form.
Energetic personality with a positive attitude.
Willingness and ability to travel within the SEA+I region, including occasional extended assignments of up to approximately one month.
Deliver clear and effective presentations at a high professional level.
Communicate ideas and technical information accurately and efficiently.
Engage with vendors and contractors to influence technical and commercial outcomes.
Collect, analyze, and organize technical and project-related information.
Apply appropriate tools and techniques to identify issues and solve problems.
