We're Hiring: Kitchen Assistant primarily as sourdough bread baker (Full-Time)

Marymount Bakehouse – Small Batch Sourdough Bakery & 30-Seater Café, Race Course Road

Marymount Bakehouse is a small, independent sourdough bakery and café. We operate with a focused menu, tight team, and high standards. We’re looking for a experienced Commis Chef who’s ready to assist the chef-owner to manage both our sourdough production and hot kitchen café service with the help of our Part Timers. IDEALLY, we see this as a progression path to Chef de Partie.

This is a full-time, hands‑on role with structured training in our sourdough programme — ideal for someone serious about improving their skills and growing with us.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Cook breakfast dishes, eggs, pastas, searing of proteins
  • Mix, shape, and bake sourdough breads and pies daily
  • Prep and plate hot food for dine‑in service (tartines, pastas, flatbreads)
  • Make fresh pasta doughs and prep garnishes for service
  • Clean bannetons, ovens, kitchen tools, and workstations
  • Basic Kitchen Housekeeping, keeping inventory in proper containers
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Guide part‑timers and communicate clearly with the team
  • Stay organised, on‑task, and consistent with daily routines
Who We're Looking For:
  • 1–2 years of professional kitchen experience (commis or demi chef level)
  • Able to commit long‑term and take ownership of your work
  • Good with routine, repetition, and staying clean + structured
  • Willing to learn sourdough baking from scratch (we will train)
  • Able to manage your station during service and follow systems
  • Comfortable working early mornings and weekends

This role is suited for someone who’s ready to put in the work, not someone looking for a temporary role or casual hours.
