About Metta Preschool Punggol

Metta Preschool Punggol (慈光幼儿园) has been serving the community since its official opening on 31 July 2010. Our center, which receives referrals from SG Enable and hospitals, specializes in early intervention programs for children aged 2 to 6 years old who are diagnosed or suspected of having mild to moderate autism spectrum disorders (ASD), global developmental delay, and/or intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to maximize the developmental potential of these children.

The children participate in 3-hour sessions twice a week. Our multi-disciplinary team, consisting of teachers, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists, collaborates to set specific, measurable goals for each child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The IEP focuses on six domains: fine motor, gross motor, adaptive, cognitive, social communication, and social skills.

As a Social Worker, Your Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Social Work & Family Support
  • Provide professional social work services, including counseling and guidance to families of students.
  • Conduct means testing, including interviews and home visits, to assess financial eligibility.
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers, ensuring they receive the necessary support for their child’s development.
  • Maintain client confidentiality, respecting cultural sensitivities while delivering services.
2. Case Management & Documentation
  • Conduct case assessments, formulate intervention plans, and provide follow-up support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case documentation in both physical and IT systems.
  • Prepare social reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence as part of administrative duties.
  • Ensure compliance with NCSS, MSF, and ECDA regulations, including SSR, PES, HOMES, and QA requirements.
3. Collaboration & Professional Development
  • Work closely with educators, therapists, and other professionals to uphold high standards of social work services.
  • Participate actively in ECHO GCO meetings, contributing insights for student and family well-being.
  • Organize and conduct parent training talks annually to empower families with knowledge and resources.
  • Develop professional competencies through ongoing training and mentorship.
4. Supervision & Volunteer Management
  • Mentor and supervise Social Work Associates, ensuring alignment with service models.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts, working closely with the Head of Centre.
  • Support Parent Support Group activities to strengthen parent collaboration and community building.
  • Prepare discharge plans for students transitioning from Metta Preschool.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working with children and families in a social work setting.
  • Experience in a preschool or early childhood intervention environment is an advantage.
  • Diploma or Degree in Social Work from a recognized institution.
  • Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and responsible in managing cases and documentation.
  • Passion for helping children and families, with a commitment to professional integrity.
