Job Title: Service Engineer – Diesel Engines

Reporting to: Manager – Engine & Afloat
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model by managing and supervising subordinates with a positive attitude towards work, customers, company objectives, and profitability.
- Participate in performance appraisals and counseling of subordinates as part of disciplinary processes.
- Inspect, install (including engine alignment), repair, upgrade, troubleshoot, and overhaul diesel engines and auxiliary equipment.
- Communicate effectively with agents, ship owners’ representatives, class societies, subcontractors, and coordinate work permits and arrangements via email and phone.
- Maintain proactive communication and timely reporting of job status and technical issues to customers and department manager.
- Prepare risk assessments, checklists, work plans, manpower schedules, and toolbox meeting agendas.
- Coordinate internal departments for job completion according to scope and schedule.
- Manage timesheets, daily reports, and documentation related to service tasks, ensuring accuracy and punctual submission.
- Control job costs by monitoring man-hours, materials, and vendor expenditures, ensuring budget compliance.
- Liaise with Customer and Sales departments for additional work scopes and approvals.
- Coordinate with SCM for travel arrangements and logistics of personnel and materials.
- Prepare detailed handwritten work reports, including photos and formal investigation reports following company standards.
- Provide formal recommendations and repair proposals for breakdowns or failures, implementing corrective actions during work progress.
- Generate spare parts lists required for overhaul and repair tasks.
- Develop Gantt charts for work scheduling as per company formats.
- Maintain workshop, plant equipment, tools, and ensure good housekeeping at job locations.
- Ensure testing and monitoring equipment are identified and well-maintained at all times.
- Interpret drawings, manuals, and code specifications as needed.
- Strictly adhere to company quality, environment, health, and safety policies, prioritizing safety for self and colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or management.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Technical/Professional:
- Diploma in Marine or Mechanical Engineering (minimum).
- At least 5 years’ experience working with engine makers in Marine, Offshore, or Power Generation industries.
- Knowledge of high-speed Caterpillar engines preferred.
- Sailing experience and possession of Seaman’s book is advantageous.
Technological:
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
