The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Vice President, Credit Risk Approver (Private Banking).

Responsibilities
  • Assess, review and approve new and interim credit requests (including increase/reduce limit, limit reallocation, amendments to credit facilities) and credit renewals/credit reviews in accordance with Delegated Credit Approval Authority. Where the limits exceed his/her authority level, make relevant recommendation to the relevant Credit Authority holder for approval.
  • Be the primary point of contact for the areas under responsibility for Private Banking related matters, including, but not limited to, approvals, pipeline discussions, portfolio reviews, management of problem exposures, and credit policies / guidelines / systems.
  • Maintain the credit quality of the portfolio and promote prudent lending principles to ensure strong asset quality and minimize credit losses.
  • Proactively identify and highlight emerging risk issues and sub-standard credit exposures and ensure appropriate action is taken to protect the Bank’s interests.
  • Perform credit risk monitoring and control, including daily risk management on shortfall/margin call and limit excesses to ensure portfolio is sound and secure. Credit losses, if any, will be managed at first instance and to be minimized.
  • Oversight of credit risk activities/work performed by Offshore Support Credit Approval Team and Product Risk Team.
  • Involve in credit related projects or represent the SG team in Private Banking / credit forums as delegated by Head of GPB Credit Risk from time to time.
  • Provide feedback and support to key initiatives on streamlining processes and undertake adhoc assignments from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Degree holder in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy or related discipline.
  • Solid and diversified banking experience and a thorough understanding of the Private Banking industry, lending practices, guidelines and appetite, as well as robust knowledge of Private Bank products offering.
  • PB structuring or credit approvals experience in Asia and/or in Emerging Markets.
  • Ability to deal with, and present conflicting views to First Line of Defence in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Demonstrated team player attitude with ability and willingness to reach out and help beyond the strict boundaries of the core role.
  • Good time management skills. Strong ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
