Job description

THIS IS A 2-YEARS RENEWABLE / CONVERTIBLE CONTRACT ROLE.

Singapore Discovery Centre is seeking a Senior Technician / Technician (Hard Services) to assist the Executive in daily management, maintenance, and ensure operational reliability of the facility’s core engineering systems. This includes providing hands‑on support in technical operations, contractor management, compliance coordination, and supporting sustainability and safety initiatives. The role ensures the timely execution of tasks and plays a vital part in achieving departmental KPIs.

Key Responsibilities
1. Operational & Technical Support
  • Assist the Executive in overseeing the operation and maintenance of all hard services systems (M&E, ACMV, plumbing, fire protection, civil, infrastructure).
  • Coordinate and support the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify faults and ensure rectification is in progress.
  • Aid in maintaining system uptime, energy efficiency, and service reliability for all building functions.
  • Event set up of logistic (including AV system, furniture, equipment) for event and daily organised groups.
  • Emergency response: Respond to emergencies, such as power outrage, equipment failure, fire / incidents or building damage and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risk and minimise disruption
2. Technical Compliance & Asset Monitoring
  • Assist in organising statutory inspections, audits, and testing (e.g. SCDF, BCA, water tanks, lifts).
  • Ensure documentation, checklists, and compliance records are up to date and submitted on time.
  • Support the tracking and updating of asset lifecycle data and equipment performance logs.
  • Assist the Executive in using digital tools (e.g., BIM, CMMS) for maintenance coordination.
3. Contractor & Vendor Coordination
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for scheduled maintenance and ad hoc repair works.
  • Monitor day‑to‑day vendor performance and provide feedback to the Executive on service quality and SLA fulfilment.
  • Verify completion of work orders, maintenance logs, and ensure defects are properly resolved.
  • Aid in managing short‑term maintenance contracts during transitional phases.
4. Safety, Incident & Risk Management
  • Support the Executive in enforcing workplace safety practices and conducting regular safety inspections.
  • Assist in managing the Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) system and site access for contractors.
  • Participate in emergency drills, incident responses, and post‑incident investigations.
  • Co‑ordinate onboarding safety briefings for technicians, vendors, and interns.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Nitec with relevant mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience, working in commercial, institution buildings or equivalent.
  • Hands‑on & technically grounded, comfortable with handling tools, equipment and reading technical plans.
