Job description

We are looking to hire a Senior Tax Specialist to join our team in Mumbai.

This role is an internal tax department position with a primary focus on Federal, State, and International income tax law. The responsibilities include:

  1. Federal, State, and International tax research, audits, tax accounting, and legal entity acquisitions and restructuring.
  2. Strategic planning for Kroll and its subsidiaries worldwide.
  3. Preparing and reviewing tax returns and disclosures with the help of an external service provider.

The working hours are from 2pm to 11pm IST.

Responsibilities
  • Manage electronic workpaper processes, gather reconciliations, and coordinate checklists for tax returns and provisions.
  • Assist in completing US GAAP worldwide income tax provisions accurately and timely, including GAAP reconciliation review and deferred tax balances.
  • Perform US locality tax calculations such as NYC Rent Tax, Ohio CAT, Washington B&O Tax, and others.
  • Manage non-US tax calendar and coordinate filings with external providers and team members.
  • Interact with external tax and accounting advisors regarding non-US provisions and compliance.
  • Coordinate the preparation and technical review of foreign tax returns.
  • Manage processes related to substitute 1099-B and TRA portal, ensuring accurate data loading.
  • Assist in managing the Tax department budget and related billings, coordinating with the US tax team.
Requirements
  • Chartered Accountant qualification is mandatory.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in tax matters, including international taxation.
  • Experience supporting group tax teams and international client assignments.
  • Knowledge of accrual basis accounting and various account reconciliations.
  • Interest in accounting and finance, with willingness to participate in multiple tax areas.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with accounting software is a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and excellent communication skills.
