Job description

We are seeking an Experienced Sourcing and Supply Chain professional, to lead strategic component sourcing strategy and supplier management within a complex manufacturing environment. This role has primary accountability for supplier performance, cost competitiveness, and sourcing risk management, while partnering closely with commercial, engineering, and operations teams to support growth and margin objectives.

Role Overview

This position sits at the centre of sourcing decision-making, balancing supplier strategy, cost control, and supply assurance. You will lead sourcing teams, shape supplier ecosystems, and drive cost and availability outcomes that directly impact customer pricing, profitability, and operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own global sourcing strategy for components, ensuring competitive cost structures, supply continuity, and scalability.
  • Lead and develop sourcing and purchasing teams to support production demand and customer commitments.
  • Build, manage, and continuously improve strategic supplier relationships across cost, quality, delivery, and capacity.
  • Drive supplier performance initiatives, including cost reduction, lead‑time optimisation, MOQ rationalisation, and dual‑sourcing strategies.
  • Lead sourcing input for customer quotations, providing accurate material cost assumptions, sourcing scenarios, and lifecycle risk assessments.
  • Validate BOM cost structures, component availability, and supply risks during RFQ and pricing exercises.
  • Partner with sales, engineering, finance, and program teams to align sourcing strategies with commercial targets.
  • Identify sourcing risks such as single‑source exposure, allocation constraints, and end‑of‑life components, and implement mitigation plans.
  • Champion cost optimisation initiatives through supplier negotiations, alternate sourcing, value engineering, and standardisation.
  • Use data and market intelligence to monitor component cost trends, supplier pricing movements, and sourcing performance.
  • Support inventory and working capital optimisation through sourcing‑led demand planning and supply strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering on component selection, new product introduction support, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with internal governance, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing regional sourcing teams.
  • Strong track record in supplier negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, and sourcing risk mitigation.
  • Deep understanding of component markets, demand/supply dynamics, and cost drivers.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience leveraging ERP/MRP systems and data tools (advanced Excel, Power BI, or equivalent).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence commercial, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Commercially astute, resilient, and comfortable operating in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
