Job summary

A ceramics education institution in Singapore seeks an experienced ceramics tutor to guide students through various ceramic techniques. The role requires designing lesson plans, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean work environment. Candidates should have at least two years of teaching experience and a relevant degree or diploma. This position calls for strong leadership and communication skills, along with a passion for ceramics. Weekend and holiday work may be required.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Provide in-depth ceramics tutoring and guidance for all ceramics classes, inclusive of special technique classes;
  • Ability to design lesson outlines for ceramic classes;
  • Ability to set up, clean, and demonstrate the use of pottery equipment and instruments safely and effectively, inclusive of kiln loading and unloading, and firing of ceramic pieces;
  • Design and produce AIA ceramic products for retail and commercial purposes;
  • Plan exhibitions and events which includes artist workshops;
  • Oversee and manage studio inventory, approving or facilitating purchases as needed;
  • Monitor and ensure a clean and safe working environment, with regular upkeep of work area, equipment, supplies, and materials;
  • Any other assigned ad‑hoc duties.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Candidates with a minimum 2‑years experience with ceramics teaching or equivalent;
  • Has a diploma or degree in 3D art‑related qualifications, especially pottery;
  • Possess advanced knowledge of ceramics (Throwing, Trimming, Glazing, Slip Casting, Recycling Clay);
  • Should be able to make sake sets and teapot sets;
  • Experience in Raku Firing and Wood Firing will be an advantage;
  • Passionate about working in the ceramics industry;
  • Meticulous, good organizational and documentation skills;
  • Should possess good leadership skills, and has the ability to effectively manage a team;
  • Good communication skills and enjoy interacting with both customers;
  • Willing to work over the weekends and public holidays.
