Job description

The A*STAR—NRF Postdoctoral Award (NRF-PA), jointly supported by Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the National Research Foundation (NRF), is a prestigious programme designed to attract and empower outstanding early-career researchers.

The fellowship will focus on cultivating AI talents, driving innovation and breakthroughs at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and STEM, with real-world impact in areas such as precision health solutions, advanced manufacturing, sustainability, and quantum technologies.

Fellows will join A*STAR’s world‑class research community, working closely with academia, hospitals and industry to transform cutting‑edge science into solutions that address Singapore’s and the world’s most pressing challenges.

Successful candidates will be responsible, but not limited to:

  • Work with AI scientists in A*STAR CFAR to develop safe and trustworthy AI algorithms and solve challenging real‑world problems, and publish high‑impact papers to advance science.
  • Develop machine learning pipelines to foundation models and their downstream applications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate domain knowledge from linguistics, social sciences and advanced technologies.

JOB REQUIREMENT
  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or related fields with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • High potential in securing competitive grants.
  • Strong track record of research in AI (e.g. 500+ citations from publications in related conferences like ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, IJCAI, AAAI, KDD, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, ICCV, or journals such as JMLR, AIJ, MLJ, IJCV, IEEE Transactions and ACM Transactions).
  • Knowledge of one of the AI programming frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
