A leading research university in Singapore is seeking staff to lead research projects focused on synthetic strategies from biomass. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields, excellent English skills, strong teamwork, and a passion for research. Responsibilities include developing research strategies, executing plans, and mentoring junior staff, with opportunities for attending conferences and publishing findings.
The National University of Singapore is the national research university of Singapore. Founded in 1905 as the Straits Settlements and the Federated Malay States Government Medical School, NUS is the oldest higher education institution in Singapore.
The staff will lead at least one project under supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI). The project focuses on the new synthetic strategy of “hub” molecules from biomass or plastic waste. The staff are required to develop a well‑justified approach to achieve a goal once a problem statement and/or a research scope is defined by the PI. They will execute the plan experimentally, interpret the data critically, report to the PI proactively, and take the initiative to propose changes when the project faces a technical challenge. The staff will draft manuscripts, attend conferences to publicise the project findings, support other team members, train junior colleagues, and draft research proposals together with the PI.
