Job Description:

Research Engineer, Acoustic Research Laboratory, Tropical Marine Science Institute

The Acoustic Research Laboratory (ARL) undertakes research projects in the area of underwater acoustics and marine robotics. The Research Engineer will work across several projects in the lab to support the research teams on preparing & planning field experiments at sea, helping conduct the experiments, and aid with data curation and processing. Specific tasks will including preparation & testing of field equipment, permitting, field logistics, coordination with external parties (boats, vendors, etc), operation of equipment at sea, collection and curation of data, preliminary data quality checks, etc.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in a relevant branch of Engineering or Science
  • Interest in marine science / engineering
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Willingness to work in the field (at sea)
  • Ability to work well with team members & external vendors
  • Good communication skills
