Job description

The Hyundai-NTU-A*STAR Corporate Lab brings together a wide cross-disciplinary approach to advanced manufacturing technologies, involving multiple A*STAR research institutes and NTU colleges and schools, such as the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), and the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS).

Responsibilities:
  • Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, and comfort of head-mounted devices (HMDs).
  • Collect, process, and analyze behavioral and subjective usability data.
  • Utilize physiological sensors (e.g., EEG, eye-tracking) to assess the workload and mental state of operators during operations.
  • Develop and apply human-centered usability evaluation metrics for HMD performance.
  • Define specifications for custom HMDs with emphasis on usability, comfort, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (hardware and software) to enhance device design and functionality.
  • Support iterative prototyping, evaluation, and integration of HMDs into real assembly environments.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, Industrial or Interaction Design, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in human factors research, with a focus on industrial applications of HMDs.
  • Strong academic record with publications in international conferences and journals.
  • Solid expertise in user-centered design principles and usability testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency with usability evaluation tools, data acquisition techniques, and data analysis methods.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
