The successful candidate will work on hollow-core fiber fabrication, characterize optical fibers, assemble fiber lasers, and maintain equipment. We are looking for a Research Assistant/ Research Associate to support fiber laser development. The successful candidate will assist the Reporting Officer in on-going research projects on fiber laser development. The role will focus on hollow-core fiber fabrication, fiber laser building, and laser performance characterization.
Fabricate hollow-core optical fibers in the fiber drawing facility at NTU
Characterize drawn optical fibers and maintain a proper catalogue
Assemble fiber lasers and evaluate their performance
Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues in the laser laboratory
Manage procurement of assets and consumables
Provide ad hoc administrative support as required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
Strong problem-solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Experience in optics experiments (preferred)
Experience with cleanroom operations and maintenance (preferred)
