Dymon Asia is looking for an equity research analyst with expertise in fundamental equity long short strategies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Japanese equities with focus on domestic sectors including but not limited to sectors such as Retail/Consumer, Food and Beverage, IT Services, Internet/Gaming/Entertainment sectors.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Researching and analyzing domestic sectors in Japan to have a thorough understanding of each industry sector
- Conducting analyst calls, attending seminars and one‑on‑one meetings with issuers, and participating in investor conferences.
- Formulating clear investment opinions on the outlook for each sector and identifying secular trends driving each industry.
- Performing financial analysis, creating and maintaining financial models for each stock.
- Forecasting and analyzing earnings results through interviews, analyst calls, and industry comparisons, to support the Portfolio Manager’s investment decisions before and after earnings releases.
- Monitoring stock‑specific risks and providing recommendations and updates to the Portfolio Managers.
Qualification
- More than three years’ experience as an equity research analyst conducting bottom‑up research in Japan equity market from either sell side or buy side
- A solid investment process and framework is a must.
- Natural curiosity, analytical, critical and logical thinking
- Ability to think laterally and exercise good judgment
- Self‑starter attitude with high level of enthusiasm for equity research
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese
- Strong ability to perform financial statements, business, and valuation analysis
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and creative skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills
