Job summary

A growing construction firm in Singapore is seeking a Project Engineer to manage end-to-end project execution, ensuring compliance with design, quality, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in project supervision, along with the necessary certifications. Responsibilities include leading projects, reviewing contracts, and conducting site inspections. Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin/Hokkien are essential, with a long-term commitment to the role preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in construction or renovation project supervision in Singapore.
  • Certifications such as BCSS/CSOC, BCCPE, are preferred.
  • Valid Class 3 driving license is preferred.

About Us

We are a small growing construction and renovation company specializing in residential, commercial, and industrial projects (A&A, renovation, HIP, repair and maintenance). We are looking for a Project Engineer who is hands-on, technically competent, and proactive in managing projects end-to-end. You will oversee project execution, coordinate various parties, solve site challenges, and ensure that all work aligns with design, quality, safety, and contractual standards. You will report directly to the Director and work closely with team members, including the site supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight & Delivery:
    Lead and manage projects/job sites from start to finish. Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality and safety standards. Coordinate subcontractors, workers, and suppliers to keep project progress on track.

  • Contract Awareness & Compliance:
    Review and interpret contract terms and project agreements to ensure work is executed in line with contractual requirements. Identify any discrepancies, unclear terms, or risks in the contract, and take appropriate action to protect the company’s interests. Ensure all parties understand their obligations and comply with contract conditions throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Tendering & Cost Control:
    Lead tender preparation and submission through platforms like GeBIZ and SAP/Ariba. Assists in estimating costs, evaluating submissions, and selecting suppliers/subcontractors. Manage procurement and monitor project costs to ensure alignment with budgets and contractual commitments.

  • Technical Execution & Problem Solving:
    Apply technical knowledge to ensure works are carried out to design specifications. Identify issues or discrepancies (e.g. in drawings, scope, or quality) and provide practical solutions to keep the project progressing smoothly. Provide guidance and direction to the team when technical challenges arise.

  • Site Supervision & Safety Compliance:
    Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work complies with designs, contract requirements, safety regulations, and company quality standards. Work with the Supervisor on Risk Assessments (RA) and ensure safety protocols are understood and followed on site.

  • Coordination & Reporting:
    Attend all meetings with architects, consultants, clients, authorities and/or own team. Keep the Director informed, align expectations, and coordinate communication with all parties involved. Provide daily progress updates to the Director, highlighting achievements, issues, and resolutions.

  • Daily Operations & Briefing:
    Brief workers and subcontractors daily on goals, tasks, and expectations. Assists with materials procurement and site logistics if needed, including workers' transportation between sites.

Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 3full years of hands-on for construction or renovation project supervision in Singapore, with experience in small-scale projects (A&A, renovation).

  • Certifications: BCSS/CSOC, BCCPE, and a construction-related diploma recognized by BCA/PEB (e.g. Diploma in Civil Engineering by Polytechnics).

  • Driving License: Valid Class 3 driving license (preferred).

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of construction execution, design compliance, and contract requirements.

    • Competent in reviewing and interpreting contract terms to identify risks, discrepancies, or unclear scope.

    • Familiarity with tendering platforms (GeBIZ, SAP/Ariba) and basic cost control practices.

    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin/Hokkien.

  • Additional: BizSAFE Level 2 (Risk Management) is an advantage.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership, good time management and organizational skills and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment: Long-term commitment to the role.

  • Preference: Singaporean or PR preferred.
