Job description

As Singapore’s national performing arts centre, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay aims to be an arts centre for everyone – a catalyst for creativity and artistic development at home, regarded as a leading arts centre in the Asia‑Pacific region and beyond.

The Digital and Content teams manage the digital strategies and framework, as well as the content and platform strategies, which will effectively position Esplanade as a leader in its field and drive through funnel marketing and performance. The Content team also manages the centre’s archives of audiovisual and print materials, which have cultural and historical value for the arts in Singapore and the Asia‑Pacific region.

You will assist in the processing, documenting and managing of Esplanade’s audiovisual, print and physical archives, in preparation for the arts centre’s 25th anniversary in 2027. You will also assist with the ideation and production of digital and exhibition content on the arts and Esplanade. You will help to ensure quality, timeliness and effectiveness of all content produced, including content for Esplanade’s Offstage platform, a digital publication demystifying and deepening knowledge of the arts in Singapore and Asia. It is therefore critical that you are fully aware of all activities of the centre which have a bearing on the quality, accuracy and timeliness of the archival assets managed and content published.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ARCHIVES MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION
  • Assist with the acquisition, appraisal, accessioning and safekeeping of materials into the collection of the Esplanade archives according to established policies
  • Assist with the management of access to Esplanade’s archival assets by internal and external parties, including requests for loans, research, reproduction and publicity, both on‑site and online.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that digital image assets such as photographs, programme booklets, education guides and festival key visuals and calendars are properly archived ahead of Esplanade’s 25th anniversary.
SUPPORT FOR CONTENT CREATION AND EXHIBITIONS
  • Assist in the ideating, planning and creation of content for various target audiences of the Esplanade Offstage platform, including working with external parties such as writers and creatives where needed.
  • Assist in the production of content such as videos, articles and podcasts, and ensuring quality control for work delivered.
  • Ensure the accuracy of facts, justifiability and fairness of all statements of opinion and timeliness of delivery in all content produced.
  • Publish content on the site’s content management system and other related hosting platforms.
  • Trimming of archival videos for use on Offstage and other platforms.
  • Administrative work involving copyrights clearance and processing of contracts with external creatives/writers.
  • Contributing ideas to the curation and conceptualisation of exhibitions.
  • Managing loans and collection of materials for exhibitions where needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree preferably in the Arts, Media or Library or Archives‑related fields.
  • 1-2 years of working experience in the arts, libraries or records management. Has some experience with content production processes in a digital environment.
  • An interest in the performing arts, familiarity with Esplanade’s activities and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Extremely organised, meticulous, proactive, and resourceful.
  • Able to think critically and communicate effectively. Able to solve problems creatively, work independently and excel in a team‑oriented culture.
  • Solid creative writing and communication skills in English are essential for this job.
  • Basic proficiency in photo and video editing.
