Job summary

A leading manufacturing firm in Singapore seeks a Process Development Engineer to optimize processes, ensure quality, and support new product introductions. The ideal candidate should possess a degree in engineering, have 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing, and be proficient in problem-solving and analytics. Job description
1. Process Development & Optimization
  • Develop, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and implement manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Identify bottlenecks and propose corrective/preventive actions.
2. New Product / Process Introduction (NPI)
  • Support new product introduction by preparing process flow, work instructions, and production layouts.
  • Coordinate trials, validate equipment, and ensure smooth transition from pilot to mass production.
3. Equipment & Tooling Management
  • Specify, evaluate, and implement new machinery, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Monitor machine performance and coordinate with maintenance for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure proper calibration and capability of equipment.
4. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze quality issues using root cause analysis methods (5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Implement process controls and monitor key parameters to maintain stable quality levels.
  • Work with QA and production teams to meet ISO/TS/IATF requirements.
5. Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare and update work instructions, SOPs, control plans, PFMEA, and process change documents.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
6. Production Support
  • Provide technical support to production teams on daily process issues.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process abnormalities to minimize downtime.
  • Train operators and supervisors on new processes or equipment.
7. Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Logistic and Purchasing teams.
  • Participate in customer audits and support technical discussions with suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or related discipline)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment (fresh graduates may be considered for junior roles)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process flow, and production control
  • Experience in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, TQM, 5why)
  • Ability to conduct process analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Familiar with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / VDA 6.3
  • Hands-on experience with process documentation (SOP, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans)
  • Basic understanding of cost reduction, yield improvement, and cycle time optimization
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams
  • Willingness to support shop-floor activities and continuous improvement initiatives
