Job summary

A leading global biopharma company in Singapore is looking for a Process Development Scientist to support lab and small-scale process work that helps move products toward commercial manufacturing. Job description

You will join the Process Development team in Singapore as a Process Development Scientist. You will support lab and small-scale process work that helps products move safely toward commercial manufacturing. You will work closely with process development technicians, production, quality, and project teams. This role gives hands‑on technical experience, cross‑functional exposure and clear paths for career growth while helping GSK unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.

Responsibilities
  • Apply scientific expertise to provide innovative approaches for production of high‑quality purified productli>
  • Research, develop and recommend new innovative technologies/processes that reduce cost, enhance features or optimize manufacturing process.
  • Design and develop processes to optimize efficient process flow, reduce process or product variability, improve process capability, and improve employee safety.
  • Determine process capability for developed processes.
  • Set up designed process experiments, evaluate results, and effectively communicate conclusions. Projects will be self‑directed, collaborative, and combined research and lab trials.
  • Execute process development or scaling‑up of vaccine bulk manufacturing processes (downstream/ logistic technologies).
  • Design representative scale‑down models to adequately interrogate the design space.
  • Solve complex problems through collaborations with others, taking a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Manage process development laboratory including infrastructure, equipment, logistics, maintenance, qualification and validation of equipment, operating licence, administrative tasks, LEAN operational excellence and change management.
Basic Qualification
  • BS degree with relevant experience in Vaccines Process Science, Pharmaceutical R&D or Bioprocess engineering.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in biopharmaceutical process development and healthcare business system (R&D, process development, technology transfer, process scale‑up/scale‑down), or equivalent education preferred.
  • Practical skills with common lab tools and equipment (for example pipettes, balances, pH meters, basic chromatography or spectroscopy).
  • Good written and spoken English with clear communication and record‑keeping skills.
  • Comfortable working on‑site in Singapore and following safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Commitment to follow documentation, quality and regulatory standards in a manufacturing‑support environment.
Preferred Qualification

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus

  • Good problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting process development, pilot trials or technology transfer in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with process equipment such as bioreactors, filtration systems, chromatography or cleanroom work.
  • Competency in data tools such as Excel and simple statistical analysis or data visualisation. Data investigation & analysis skills, including experimental design and statistics required.
  • Result oriented and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities required.
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practice, good documentation practice, or manufacturing quality expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and a practical problem‑solving mindset.
  • Interface effectively with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to appropriately manage ambiguity and work autonomously.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal & teamwork skills.
  • Sound knowledge of biopharmaceutical production processes.
