Position Objective and Summary
- The Plant Manager is responsible for the end-to-end operations of the waste treatment facility. The primary focus is to ensure the plant operates at peak efficiency and remains in 100% compliance with EHS regulations. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to meet productivity targets, manage facility uptime, and drive a culture of continual process improvement.
Main Tasks / Activities / Responsibilities
Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Safety Leadership: Enforce a zero-harm workplace. Participate safety audits, incident investigations, findings on time closure and regular safety briefings.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all plant activities comply with EHS regulations.
Operational Productivity & Plant Uptime
- Throughput Optimization: Manage daily operations to meet or exceed waste processing targets.
- Maintenance Strategy: Coordinate with the Maintenance team to execute maintenance program and work to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Troubleshooting: Provide technical guidance on waste treatment equipment (pumps, clarifiers, filters, chemical feed systems) to resolve operational bottlenecks.
Manpower & Team Management
- Resource Allocation: Manage shift schedules and manpower arrangements to ensure 24/7 or optimal operational coverage.
- Training & Development: Identify skill gaps and provide technical training on equipment operation and safety protocols.
- Performance Management: Set KPIs for staff and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Housekeeping & Facility Standards
- 5S Methodology: Implement and maintain high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Resource Management: Ensure chemical stocks, tools, and spare parts are organized and readily available.
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Data Integrity: Maintain meticulous records of plant logs, discharge quality reports, maintenance history, and safety incidents.
- KPI Reporting: Provide weekly and monthly reports to senior management regarding cost-per-ton processed, chemical usage, and plant efficiency.
Continual Improvement
- Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to reduce chemical consumption, energy usage, and waste-to-landfill ratios.
- Innovation: Stay updated on new waste treatment technologies and propose upgrades to existing equipment to enhance performance.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 7–10 years in waste treatment or industrial plant operations, with at least 3 years in a management role. Experience of management of foreign workers.
Technical Knowledge
- Deep familiarity with Physical/Chemical/Biological treatment systems and specialized waste equipment.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership, follow-up actions, detail oriented.
