Position Summary
The Petroleum Engineer is a professional role responsible for applying specialised petroleum and natural gas engineering expertise to support the evaluation, development, and optimisation of oil and gas assets and associated production and processing infrastructure.
The role requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience and involves performing advanced engineering analyses, applying independent professional judgement, and supporting technical and operational decision‑making in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
The role also requires strong knowledge of the oil and gas industry landscape and infrastructure in Southeast Asia as well as the United States, to support technical evaluation and decision‑making across different regulatory and operating environments. In addition, the role provides technical oversight and guidance to ensure quality and consistency of engineering outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Senior Engineering Responsibilities
- Perform reservoir and production engineering analyses for petroleum and natural gas assets, including production forecasting, reserves estimation, and performance evaluation.
- Support the development and optimisation of field development plans, production strategies, and related oil and gas infrastructure.
- Conduct reservoir simulation, production modelling, and technical evaluations to support engineering and management decisions.
- Provide technical input to drilling, completion, workover, and production activities as required.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the high‑level management team, geoscientists, drilling engineers, production teams, and external service providers to ensure integrated engineering outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance, participate and review engineering analyses and technical deliverables prepared by team members.
- Prepare and review technical reports, engineering analyses, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
Governance & Standards
- Ensure engineering work complies with industry standards, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Uphold health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across engineering, operational, and infrastructure‑related activities.
- Stay informed of developments and best practices in petroleum and natural gas engineering and infrastructure systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in petroleum and natural gas engineering.
- Solid knowledge of the oil and gas industry landscape in Southeast Asia as and the United States.
- Proven experience in reservoir engineering, production optimisation, field development planning, and oil and gas production infrastructure.
- Ability to independently perform advanced engineering analyses and contribute to complex oil and gas projects.
- Proficiency in petroleum and natural gas engineering tools and modelling software.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data.
- Good communication and technical reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
