Job Title: Operations Manager

Reports To: Owner

Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our flower shop to ensure efficiency, quality, and exceptional customer service. This role manages staff, inventory, suppliers, and processes to support smooth store operations, timely floral production, and profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day shop operations, ensuring smooth workflow and timely order fulfillment

  • Coordinate floral production schedules for retail, events, and special orders

  • Ensure shop cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety standards

Staff Management

  • Supervise, train, and schedule florists and support staff

  • Monitor performance and provide coaching, feedback, and support

  • Assist with hiring and onboarding new employees

Inventory & Supply Chain

  • Manage inventory of flowers, plants, vases, and supplies

  • Place orders with growers and vendors; maintain strong supplier relationships

  • Monitor product quality, reduce waste, and control costs

Customer Experience

  • Ensure high standards of customer service in-store, online, and over the phone

  • Handle customer concerns or escalated issues professionally

  • Support sales initiatives and seasonal promotions

Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Assist with budgeting, cost control, and sales tracking

  • Oversee cash handling, POS systems, and daily sales reports

  • Support pricing strategies and profitability goals

Process Improvement

  • Develop and improve operational systems and procedures

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions

  • Support growth initiatives, events, and peak seasons (holidays, weddings, etc.)

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in retail, operations, or hospitality management

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • Experience in a flower shop, floral design business, or perishable goods retail

  • Knowledge of inventory management and vendor sourcing

  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic financial reporting

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Ability to lift and move boxes, buckets, and floral supplies up to 10 kg
