Job Description

As a Nurse Manager, your duties and Responsibilities are:

  • Lead, supervise and coach clinical process and service quality in the ward.
  • Ensure that administrative procedures are adhered according to hospital and government policies.
  • Support and communicate the Nursing Division’s organizational structure, philosophy, objectives, goals, policies and procedures to employees, patients, family, community and the medical staff.
  • Assist Assistant Director (Nursing) / Senior Nurse Manager / Senior Nurse Clinician with the development and monitoring of the personnel, operating and capital equipment budget process and assure cost effective use of resources.
  • Attend promptly to incidents such as falls, hazards etc; perform investigation and write necessary reports for submission to hospital and nursing administration. Investigate and reply complaint expeditiously.
  • Assist Assistant Director (Nursing) / Senior Nurse Manager / Senior Nurse Clinician / Nurse Clinician in performance appraisals and counsel nursing staff in a manner that correct problems and promote professional growth.
  • Counsel in conjunction with Assistant Director (Nursing) in disciplinary action as necessary in compliance with established personnel policies.
  • Ensure that beds are managed and utilized to the maximum. Liaise with doctors when bed shortage is anticipated or is occurring.
  • Collaborate with Senior Nurse Manager / Senior Nurse Clinician / Nurse Clinician in developing and implementing and auditing nursing standards.
  • Plan and prepare staff roster and assignment according to patient’s needs.
  • Manage public relation aspects of the ward / department.
  • Collaborate with Senior Nurse Clinician / Senior Nurse Manager / Nurse Clinician to coach skills and knowledge competency in a specialized area, and assist in the clinical / in-service training.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise all activities during a mass casualty plan, infectious disease outbreak, fire evacuation plan and code blue alert in accordance to protocols.
  • Responsible for managing, monitoring and controlling identified risk and including the implementation of mitigation plans.
  • Assume expanded role as assigned and participate in hospital level projects / committees
  • Assure the nursing care services rendered are safe, competent and individualized.
  • Allocate personnel and equipment as necessary to assure adequacy of resources to meet care requirements.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by Senior Nurse Manager / Senior Nurse Clinician / Assistant Director (Nursing) / Director (Nursing).
Job Requirements
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • The job holder shall be a Registered Nurse, preferably with at least 10 to 12 years of post-registration experience, of which 3 years shall be experience as Nurse Manager II.
  • Post-basic qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing
  • Good leadership and management skills.
  • Computer literacy – MS Office
(B) PROFESSIONAL LICENCE
  • A recognised Registered Nurse Certificate or equivalent as approved by Singapore Nursing Board.
