Job summary

A maritime safety tech company in Singapore is looking for a safety officer to ensure compliance with maritime regulations during robotic operations. You will be responsible for training, risk assessments, and safety management. The ideal candidate has a relevant diploma and at least 2 years of experience in safety roles, preferably in maritime or logistics. Job Overview

Ensure 100% compliance with Singapore’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act and maritime regulations for robotic ship‑cleaning operations. Lead on‑site safety checks, permit applications (MPA/PSA), and crew training to minimize risks.

On‑Site Commitment

First 3 months: ~40 hours/week on vessels/terminals (training).

Thereafter: ~20 hours/week for audits/support.

Key Responsibilities
  • On‑Site Safety Management: Inspect vessels/terminals to enforce safety protocols (e.g., anti‑slip, electrical safety) during robotic operations and monitor PPE compliance (life jackets, non‑slip shoes, gloves).
  • Risk Assessment & Documentation: Assist in basic Risk Assessments (RA) for hazards (e.g., equipment collision, high‑pressure water jets), maintain safety checklists and incident reports.
  • Permit Coordination: Apply for MPA/PSA permits for cleaning operations—submit RAs, work plans, and insurance docs; liaise with port authorities/vessel owners to align with their safety rules.
  • Training & Compliance: Conduct safety onboarding (e.g., robot emergency shutdowns) and host monthly safety briefings with real‑case discussions.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Support drill planning (e.g., man‑overboard, robot malfunctions), act as first responder for incidents.
  • Other ad‑hoc duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  1. Education: NITEC / Polytechnic diploma and above (Engineering/WSH fields preferred).
  2. Experience: 2+ years in safety roles (maritime/logistics ideal).
  3. Singapore bizSAFE level 2 certificate.
  4. Able to read technical manuals such as robot guidelines.
  5. Permit application experience (MPA/PSA/NEA) is preferred.
  6. Adaptable to outdoor/vessel environments.
  7. Strong communication skills for port/crew coordination.
  8. Other basic skills such as first aid and etc.
