Job description

The Perse School (Singapore) are seeking two dynamic and passionate Teacher of Mandarin Chinese to join our expanding School. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in delivering an engaging and rigorous Mandarin curriculum that fosters linguistic proficiency and cultural appreciation.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Mandarin to students of various proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners, and preparing students for IGCSE, A Level, or IB Diploma examinations. The role may also include leadership opportunities within the Modern Foreign Languages Faculty as the school continues to grow.

In addition to teaching, the post-holder will contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, such as Chinese language clubs, cultural events, and study abroad opportunities. They will also serve as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and supporting students’ personal and academic development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a high-quality Mandarin Chinese curriculum aligned with the Cambridge International languages curriculum, IGCSE and IB or A Level curriculum.
  • Teach Mandarin across a range of year groups, fostering students' linguistic skills and cultural awareness.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, learning materials and assessments that cater to varying levels of language proficiency.
  • Regularly provide formative and summative assessments to monitor students' progress.

Essential Skills and Attributes
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mandarin Chinese language and culture.
