We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager, Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maritime operations, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating agency appointments, reviewing the PDAs and FDAs.
- Communicating with charterers, brokers, agents, and vessels regarding voyage orders, vessel itineraries, etc.
- Planning, preparing, and circulating loading & discharging operations, coordinating with various parties such as the Master, port captains, stevedores, agents, and others for efficient port turnaround.
- Monitoring vessel movements and performance.
- Reviewing and preparing cargo stowage plans to optimize cargo liftings for bulk/breakbulk or project cargo, including making stowage plans, lashing/bedding plans, lashing calculations, and other cargo documents.
- Monitoring hold cleaning plans, including chemical supply and supervision.
- Proper planning of bunker supplies and coordination with bunker suppliers.
- Handling claims, liaising with P&I clubs and legal teams to resolve disputes/arbitration.
- Attending vessels and supervising cargo operations during critical shipments; sourcing and purchasing materials required for cargo operations.
- Performing cost control procedures for voyage expenses and verifying bills received from agents and vendors.
- Supporting the Chartering team in fixing potential shipments and checking/confirming vessel suitability for chart-in.
- Supporting the chartering team with maximizing cargo uplift, stowage planning, and port information inquiries for prospective vessel employment.
- Guiding the Postfix team to calculate voyage laytime, chart-hire, and freight accurately, and verifying invoices before sending to the accounting department.
- Coordinating operational strategies and activities to ensure efficiency and achievement of objectives.
- Managing, motivating, and assessing team performance.
- Identifying weaknesses in current procedures, summarizing solutions for management approval, and implementing improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in shipping operations for bulk, breakbulk, parcelling, and project cargo.
- Master Mariner with shore-based experience in operations for bulk, breakbulk, parcelling, and project cargo, or sailing experience in similar shipping trades is preferred.
- Experience with loading windmill components, project cargo, and general cargoes is preferred.
- Ability to use CAD, FEMAP, or similar software for stowage planning.
