What the role is:

[LTA-PT] MANAGER/DEPUTY/ASSISTANT MANAGER, BUS EXCELLENCE

What you will be working on:

As Manager/Deputy Manager/Assistant Manager, Bus Excellence, you will be at the heart of transforming Singapore's public transport experience. With buses serving as a key transport mode for millions of Singaporeans daily, this role offers you the unique opportunity to directly enhance how people move around our city, making every journey safer, more comfortable, and more reliable.

Working across engineering, operations, and stakeholder engagement, you will drive the operations and safety considerations of our bus assets whilst building meaningful connections with key stakeholders, including the Bus Captains and the commuters. These engagements will be your gateway to understanding real-world challenges and translating them into concrete improvements.

This role goes far beyond operational follow-ups. You will influence how buses are designed, tested, upgraded, and refined throughout their lifecycle, ensuring that every modification serves a purpose, whether it's enhancing passenger safety, improving driver ergonomics, or creating a more inclusive travel environment. Your work will directly shape the onboard systems, service experience, and design elements that touch the lives of countless Singaporeans.

As public buses remain one of Singapore's most essential modes of transport, you'll have the opportunity to transform the daily commuting experience for our nation, turning routine journeys into safer, more pleasant experiences.

As the Manager/Deputy Manager/Assistant Manager, Bus Excellence, you will drive transformative initiatives focused on enhancing bus performance, safety, and passenger experience through systematic improvement processes, including:

  • Drive Continuous Bus Design Enhancement: Lead comprehensive improvement initiatives for bus design and onboard systems through strategic trials, detailed evaluations, and thorough post-deployment reviews to optimise fleet performance.
  • Plan and Execute Technology Trials: Orchestrate systematic bus trials to rigorously assess new technologies, advanced safety features, and operational enhancements that elevate service standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Feedback Integration: Collaborate closely with Bus Captains, commuters, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and Public Transport Operators (PTOs) to gather valuable feedback and translate insights into practical, actionable improvements.
  • Manage Public Feedback Systems: Oversee comprehensive management of public feedback related to buses, identifying systemic issues and recommending targeted corrective or preventive actions to enhance service quality.
  • Support Mid-Life Refurbishment Initiatives: Champion strategic mid-life refurbishment programmes to significantly improve safety standards, reliability metrics, and overall passenger experience across the fleet.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal engineering, operations, safety, and policy teams to ensure all enhancements are practical, compliant, and aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Technology and Trend Analysis: Conduct comprehensive technology and trend scans to inform future bus improvements and maintain Singapore's position at the forefront of public transport innovation.
  • Advisory Role in Procurement: Provide expert advisory support during new electric bus procurement processes by consolidating valuable lessons learned from existing operations and translating them into procurement specifications.

Your work directly influences the daily safety, comfort, and accessibility of public transport, enhances operational effectiveness for Bus Captains, and ensures successful integration of new technologies. This role offers strong visibility and delivers real impact on public transport outcomes at a national level.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking someone who has a passion for public transport excellence and exceptional diverse stakeholders (i.e. commuters, Bus Captains, maintenance team, wheelchair users, and other key partners across the transport ecosystem) engagement capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical & Electronic, Automotive, or equivalent).
  • Experience: At least 5 and 7 years of relevant experience in automotive, engineering fleet management or related industries for Deputy Manager and Manager respectively.
  • Communication Skills: Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities to effectively engage with diverse internal and external partners.
  • Analytical Capabilities: Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and systematic approach to improvement initiatives.
  • Attributes: A proactive, self-motivated individual with the ability to drive change and manage complex improvement projects across multiple stakeholders.
  • We welcome fresh graduates with relevant engineering qualifications and a strong interest in automotive technology and public transport to apply.

As part of the shortlisting process for the role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and / or undergo further assessment.
