Job summary

A multinational legal services firm based in Singapore is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Legal and Compliance Team. The successful candidate will draft and review legal documents, advise on corporate governance, and provide insights on legal implications of business decisions. An LLB degree, at least 3 years of experience, and fluency in English are essential. Additional language proficiency and strong communication skills would be advantageous. Qualifications

  • Qualified to practice law in Singapore; qualification in a common law jurisdiction is a strong plus.
  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience in a multinational corporation or law firm.
  • Proficiency in Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, or Chinese is advantageous.

Job Description

Based in Singapore, the Legal Counsel is a member of the DayOne Legal and Compliance Team and has the following main responsibilities:

  • To draft and review all types of agreements and legal documents (such as NDAs, services agreements, land acquisition agreements, real estate leasing agreements, procurement agreements, commercial agreements) and participate in meetings and negotiations with internal and external parties
  • To work on corporate governance matters such as corporate secretarial, intellectual property protection and employment matters
  • To advise business teams on the legal implications of real estate M&A decisions, including the structuring of transactions and the management of legal risks
  • To provide legal advice on various legal matters (such as securities laws, privacy laws, intellectual property laws and other laws and regulations) relevant to the daily operations of the business
Requirements
  • An LLB degree or above from a reputable university
  • Qualified to practice law in Singapore and qualification in a common law jurisdiction a strong plus
  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience in a multinational corporation or an international/domestic law firm
  • Fluent spoken and written English and excellent command of MS Office software application (e.g., Word, Excel and Powerpoint). Proficiency in Malay, Bahasa Indonesia and/or Chinese will be advantageous
  • Hardworking, efficient, proactive and detail- and solution-oriented with a “can do” attitude
  • Mature, pragmatic, self-motivated, able to multiple-task and work independently and under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, high integrity, business acumen and a team player
