1. Role Purpose
The Junior Presales Engineer supports the sales team in positioning and selling Enterprise Networking solutions (e.g. switching, routing, WLAN, SD‑WAN, basic network security) and assists on entry‑to‑mid complexity Systems opportunities (e.g. servers, virtualization, storage, backup, basic cloud). He/she will be responsible for technical qualification, solution design support, proposal development, and demos/POCs, ensuring that customer requirements are accurately translated into feasible, competitive solutions in collaboration with senior presales and delivery teams.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Sales & Opportunity Support
- Work closely with Account Managers to understand customer requirements, business drivers, and technical environments.
- Participate in discovery calls, requirement‑gathering sessions, and basic customer workshops under guidance from senior presales.
- Assist in qualification of opportunities from a technical standpoint (fit/gaps, risks, assumptions).
B. Solution Design & Proposal Support – Enterprise Network
- Prepare high‑level and low‑level designs (HLD/LLD) for standard Enterprise Network solutions under supervision.
- Support solutioning around campus & data centre networking (switching, routing), wireless LAN solutions, SD‑WAN and WAN optimization, basic network security (firewalls, VPN, segmentation).
- Assist in BoM (Bill of Materials) creation, sizing, and configuration using OEM tools and best practices.
- Work with internal teams and OEM partners to validate designs, ensuring performance, scalability, and supportability.
C. Systems Presales Support (Foundational)
- Support senior presales in entry‑level Systems opportunities, including x86 servers, virtualization platforms, entry/mid‑tier storage solutions, basic backup and DR architectures, OS and basic cloud compute (where relevant).
- Prepare standard solution templates, BoMs, and configuration documents for smaller opportunities and renewals.
D. Proposals, RFPs & Documentation
- Draft and refine technical proposals, solution write‑ups, and responses to RFPs/RFIs, ensuring clarity and alignment with customer requirements.
- Maintain and update proposal templates, technical slide decks, and standard solution offerings.
- Support creation of cost sheets with input from senior presales, procurement, and delivery teams.
E. Demonstrations, POCs & Enablement
- Assist in preparing and delivering product demos, proof‑of‑concepts (POCs), and technical workshops, mainly for standard networking use cases.
- Help set up and maintain lab/demo environments for Enterprise Network solutions.
- Participate in OEM/distributor trainings and certifications to keep technical skills up‑to‑date.
F. Collaboration & Handover
- Collaborate closely with Project Delivery, Operations, and Managed Services teams to ensure smooth handover of sold solutions.
- Support documentation required for implementation handover, including network diagrams, configuration guidelines, and technical As‑Built documents (as appropriate).
G. Continuous Improvement
- Capture frequent customer requirements and feedback to help refine standard solutions and bundles.
- Contribute to internal knowledge base, FAQs, and technical collateral for sales enablement.
3. Requirements
Educational / Professional Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Relevant vendor certifications (nice‑to‑have / plus): Networking: Cisco CCNA / CCNP, HPE Aruba, Huawei, Juniper, etc.; Systems/Virtualization: Microsoft, VMware, or equivalent entry‑level certifications.
Technical Skills
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Enterprise Networking – TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, switching, Wi‑Fi concepts, VPN.
- Basic understanding of Network Security – firewall fundamentals, ACLs, basic security best practices.
- Foundational Systems knowledge – Windows/Linux server basics, virtualization concepts, storage & backup fundamentals.
- Familiarity with network diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Draw.io).
- Ability to read and understand RFPs/RFIs, technical SoWs, and solution documents.
Experience
- 0–3 years of experience in presales, network engineering, systems engineering, or technical support in an IT services / system integrator / vendor environment.
- Fresh graduates with strong fundamentals and lab/project experience will be considered.
