Scope of Work / Responsibilities
- Assist with remote network, PC, printer, CCTV, server configuration and pre-deployment setup.
- Travel onboard vessels to install and set up pre-configured IT equipment (servers, switches, firewalls, PCs, printers, communication devices, etc.).
- Coordinate with the core IT team and stakeholders to execute the plan in line with project milestones.
- Act as an on-site liaison between vessel crew, project team, and remote IT engineers.
- Track equipment deliveries, verify packing lists, and maintain asset inventory.
- Run cabling where necessary (Ethernet patching, labelling, and testing).
- Mount and secure network devices, racks, and IT equipment.
- Support the installation and integration of IT infrastructure, including:
- Network devices (routers, firewalls, switches, WiFi APs)
- End-user devices (PCs, laptops, printers, handhelds)
- Connectivity (satellite comms, WAN/LAN, wireless)
- Perform basic troubleshooting and liaise with remote IT engineers for escalation if needed.
- Maintain documentation of installations, configurations, and handover notes.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and security standards during setup.
- IT support duties as required, which may include:
- Assisting with day-to-day IT support requests from users.
- Helping with inventory updates, asset tagging, and equipment logistics.
- Supporting system patching, updates, and health checks.
- Providing backup coverage for IT staff during urgent needs or absences.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on IT experience within the maritime industry, with a strong understanding of its unique operational challenges (onshore/offshore environments).
- Proven experience in:
- Network infrastructure and telecommunications support.
- IT system implementation and maintenance.
- Providing technical support and end-user training.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards (QMS, SMS).
