Job description
Overview and Objectives of the Position

This role provides HR support for a Business Unit (Curtin Singapore) portfolio within Australasia with designated client groups. The role will partner the Business Unit leaders and their management teams. The role is supported by the HR administrators and the payroll team who will support the HR Manager with first line HR queries and HR administrative support and HR Advisory resource.

Key Result Areas
  • Lead the people agenda and participate in the business planning process;
  • Lead the execution of divisional human resources strategy in support of group and regional objectives;
  • Determine current and future staffing needs and devise timely, cost-effective recruiting and on-boarding solutions;
  • Establish and maintain employer of choice reputation to attract and retain the talent;
  • Cultivate favorable employee relations by implementing appropriate systems, processes and practices to attain high levels of employee retention, engagement and team-oriented work relationships;
  • Coach, counsel and provide best practice information to the management staff in areas of staffing, employee relations, performance management, talent development and regulatory compliance to ensure optimum value from the business’ human capital;
  • Ensure that all HR programs and processes are executed in a manner that is consistent with group practices and where appropriate, linked with other parts of Navitas;
  • Working with the HRIS System Manager, ensure appropriate and user-friendly HR systems are in place for all business units’ in designated client areas.
  • Assist to ensure all policies and procedures in Singapore comply with the SkillsFuture Singapore regulatory requirements, including both ERF and Edutrust
  • Manage and oversee HR specific policies and procedures within Curtin Singapore, including all employment VISA and all associated aspects and in country employee insurance
Technical / Professional Expertise
  • Pragmatic HR Generalist (at least 5 years generalist HR experience in a progressive environment) motivated by a 'virtual and distributed' role who has the ability to operate independently with little day-to-day direction.
  • Strong proficiency in HR disciplines, e.g. workforce/organisation planning, employee/ industrial relations, training, compensation and recruitment, with solid knowledge of HR practices, standards and statutory requirements.
  • Ability to tailor, implement and embed programmes and initiatives that are largely determined at the COE/Thought leadership level.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills across all levels.
  • Demonstrated IR/ER experience of dispute management, risk mitigation and EBA negotiation.
  • Exceptional customer focus and commitment, balanced with owning and driving the HR generalist agenda.
  • Ability to adjust rapidly to new situations, and to coach others adapt to change. Change management lead experience and able to guide change programmes.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, able to build credible, trusting and respectful relationships with all levels of employees.
  • Strong commercial orientation; understanding of business operations, products and services.
  • Strong problem solving and planning skills. High outcome orientation and drive as well as thorough understanding of business execution needs.
Person Specifications

Requisite Education / Training (Essential and Preferred):

  • Minimum of post-secondary qualification (Essential).
  • Degree plus post graduate qualifications in related discipline (Preferred).
  • Experience supporting EBA negotiations essential.
  • Knowledge and application of HRIS and WHS systems and processes high desirable.
  • Training in dispute resolution, employment law and change management highly desirable.
