Job description

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Legal will serve as senior executive responsible for overseeing the company's global legal strategy.

As the Head of Legal in our dynamic crypto and blockchain firm, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the legal framework and strategy that supports our innovative business model. You will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters, providing strategic legal counsel to the executive team.

In this leadership position, you will manage complex commercial negotiations and contracts across investments, acquisitions and partnerships; develop and implement internal policies and training programs to foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization; and advocate for the company’s interests with regulatory bodies as required. Your application of professional judgement will be essential as support the organisation you navigate the risks and complexities of the blockchain sector.

This role demands a proactive leader with a strong background in corporate law specific to the technology, finance and evolving crypto space; excellent negotiation skills; and the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to varied stakeholders. By ensuring our operations align with legal requirements, you will contribute significantly to our mission of driving innovation in the digital asset landscape.

Main responsibilities
  • Legal Strategy: Develop and implement the company’s legal strategy to support business objectives re across all operations.
  • Senior Leadership Team: Provide strategic legal advice to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to guide decision-making, mitigating potential legal or financial risks
  • Deal advisory: Lead and oversee deal transactions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships, ensuring all legal and regulatory factors are addressed.
  • Contract Negotiation and Drafting: Lead complex contract negotiations and the drafting of agreements, ensuring alignment with legal strategy.
  • Token Listing: Oversee the legal framework for token offerings and listings on exchanges, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and advising on best practices.
  • Crisis Management: Develop and implement strategies for effective crisis management, providing legal support during disputes, investigations, and other critical events.
  • External Relations and Representation: Represent the company in advocacy and other interactions with regulators, governmental agencies, legal advisors, and risk management partners.
  • Team Development: Mentor and lead a paralegal professional, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high-quality legal output.
Requirements
  • At least 8 – 10 years PQE.
  • Strong background in corporate law.
  • Experience handling complex deal structures - M&A transactions, partnerships and commercial contracts across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience working in Web3, FinTech, or financial services is an advantage.
  • Law degree (LL.B) from a well regarded institution.
