Overview – Global Health And Safety Team
The Global HSE Team's purpose is to support Dyson to create a safe working environment for all Dyson staff wherever they may work, a safe experience for customers and to ensure we minimise our impact on the environment.
Responsibilities
- Ideally educated to degree level in a science subject.
- You will act as the APAC HSE Business Partner and as a topic subject matter expert (SME). You will manage the HSE support to the organisation (both the HSE community and the business groups) via a team of HSE Managers, drawing on their personal subject matter expertise. There is an overriding expectation that as a HSE professional you will undertake any other role related task as outlined by the Global Health and Safety Director.
- You will provide direction to ensure both the site and wider regional H&S priorities are appropriately prioritised and supported.
- Use a combination of coaching and mentoring to ensure that SMEs are successful and effective at driving improvement in HSE performance at a regional and site level.
- Support the development of team members to achieve both personal growth and succession in the business.
- Collaborate to ensure the site resource provides their functional expertise via an HSE matrix across the company.
- Support HSE Managers to delve into the community of HSE champions (embedded in other business roles).
- Maintaining a high level of competence in your specialism so that you are a recognised expert.
- Support the HSE function and Business Leaders to understand the risks associated with the specialism and activities in place to assure mitigation of the risks.
- Horizon scanning for regulatory changes / technology that may impact advice and guidance needed to support compliance within Dyson. Anticipate the need to change to prevent any surprises or last‑minute, costly adjustments to remain compliant.
- Support the Glabal HSE team to ensure the specialist area builds an appropriate level of succession within the team to prevent gaps in knowledge with changes to personnel.
- Lead Communities of Practice (CoP) with both HSE colleagues and business representatives to provide regular access to expert advice and expected ways of working.
- Review and incident data to seek opportunity for continual improvement in the specialist advice, guidance and training.
- Support investigation of any serious incident or regulatory non‑compliance in the topic specialism.
- Undertake oversight audits of compliance with Dyson standards and regulatory compliance (via both desk‑top and in‑situ observation). Develop plans to address any gaps or opportunities for improvement.
Experience
- 15 years (min) experience preferably within a research and development or similar environment.
- Strong subject matter expertise in an aspect of HSE and ideally recognised as an industry expert.
- Strong understanding of HSE Compliance legal frameworks and the ability and resourcefulness to determine the practical application of the requirements.
- Successful leadership and coaching experience of subject‑matter experts.
- Strong influencing skill and involvement in change management.
- APAC regional experience essential.
Qualifications
- A recognised Health and Safety qualification* (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent preferable).
- Chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (CMIOSH) (or equivalent)*.
- Practitioner Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (PIEMA) – Desirable.
- Demonstrable continuing professional development (CPD).
