Overview

General Summary:

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Head of Business Development to promote and support the growth of our Chinese outbound business as well as to develop other types of opportunities where there is a Chinese interest involved.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead in acquisition of major clients by offering business solutions
  • Promote and grow market share of Chinese outbound business
  • Build trusted relationships with all relevant internal Starr stakeholders
  • Cross-sell and map all the opportunities that fall under the scope of the Chinese outbound business
  • Design and execute strategy to approach prospects/ clients in collaboration with the appropriate internal stakeholders
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 15-18 years of underwriting, business development, sales and distribution experience in China insurance market (insurer/ broker)
  • Ability to understand and navigate broker distribution as well as to be comfortable dealing directly with the ultimate clients and all the stakeholders (JV partners, Chinese insurance companies, Chinese brokers, etc.)
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a strong business drive with a good understanding of general insurance business from a technical standpoint
  • Able to build trusted relationships with all internal Starr stakeholders i.e., China country manager, Head of APAC, Heads of regional and country-based profit centers as well as with country managers and the multinational team in China and internationally
  • Expert knowledge with the Chinese and the APAC markets
  • Able to travelling extensively to China and in the APAC region
