Job Title: Grants Manager (Cancer Science Institute) Posting Start Date: 22/08/2025

Job Description

The selected candidate will oversee grant financing administration, planning, and fund management for Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI) and the National Initiative on RNA Biology & Its Applications (NIRBA), ensuring effective governance, compliance, and support for researchers and leadership.

Grants Administration
  • Lead and manage the Grants Admin team to ensure smooth operations, including proper set‑up and fund utilization of WBS-es for all grants.
  • Advise and support Principal Investigators (PIs) on grant‑financial management, particularly for large external programmatic grants hosted at CSI/NIRBA/NIRBA.
  • Manage budget funding issues, virements, and liaise with Finance Cluster to process and track approved virements in S/4HANA.
  • Oversee audit queries and compliance matters related to grants.
  • Provide support for progress reports, appraisals, and other reporting obligations under grant terms, including collation and updates for collaborative grants.
  • Coordinate grant‑related administration with NUS/NUHS research offices, Office of Legal Affairs, ILO, Office of Financial Services, Finance & HR clusters, and external funding agencies.
  • Vet reimbursement documents from RCAs, PAs, and subawards; follow up with Finance/HR clusters to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Provide PIs, Core Facility Heads, and Admin Leads with advice on grant budget management and fund utilization.
  • Liaise with Finance Cluster and auditors on audit matters.
  • Identify opportunities to develop guidelines, SOPs, and process improvements for greater operational efficiency.
Development & Donor Relations
  • Build strong working relationships with NUHS & NUSMed Development Offices to develop donor funding propositions and processes.
  • Support CSI/NIRBA Director in managing discussions on new gift opportunities with internal stakeholders, the University, and prospective donors (individuals, corporations, foundations).
  • Maintain accurate records of gift case progress in the central database.
  • Prepare financial and management reports on donor funds to inform stakeholders and support decision‑making.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for advancing gift purposes and fundraising events as required.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree, with at least 8–10 years’ experience in finance and grants administration.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP systems, Singapore grant research landscape, and proficiency in Excel; willingness to learn new financial reporting systems.
  • Supervisory and mentorship experience.
  • Exposure to financial and project management accounting in research and/or education environments is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience in grants and financial modelling.
  • Ability to multi‑task and thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
