Job summary

A leading gem advisory company in Singapore is seeking an experienced Gemmologist to provide expert advice to clients and manage gemstone inventory. The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in the retail luxury industry, particularly in jewellery, holding relevant gemmological certifications. Responsibilities include gem identification, client consultation, and coordinating with designers for product development. A competitive compensation package including a salary of $4,500 - $7,000 and performance bonuses is offered.

Qualifications

Job description
  • Position: Gemmologist [ Gemology | Gemmology ]
  • Industry: Precious Gemstones, Rare Gem, Diamonds Collections
  • Workdays: 5.5 Work Days, 9-6pm (Mon to Fri), 9am to 1pm Saturday
  • Off Days: Sunday & PH are off.
  • Location: Office near Orchard MRT (Private Sales Gallery & Office)
  • Compensation: Basic Salary: $4,500 - $7,000 (Based on Experience) + Sales Commission Sharing + 13th Months Bonus + Yearly Bonus (Depends on Company Performance)
Requirements:
  1. Minimum 5+ years working experience in the retail luxury industry, preferable in a jewellery field.
  2. Certified Gemmologist (GIA, FGA or other relevant certification) will be added advantage.
  3. Experience in gem identification, diamond grading, jewellery appraisal or gemological services is a plus.
Gem Identification and Grading:
  • Utilize advanced gemmological instruments and techniques to accurately identify and grade
    gemstones, including diamonds, coloured gemstones and pearls
Client Consultation:
  • Provide expert advice to clients on gemstone selection, care and investment.
  • Assist in the selection of gemstone for jewellery design and creation
Procurement:
  • Sourcing and procurement of gemstones.
  • Inventory Management Maintain accurate records of gemstone inventory
  • Monitor gemstone markets trends and advise on potential investments
Production:
  • Cordinate with designers and workshop on new product development.
