This role is hands‑on, fast‑paced, and focuses on efficiency, quality, and safety.
To support the smooth and efficient operation of the food production line by preparing ingredients, operating machinery, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering strictly to food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Preparation & Processing:
- Weigh, measure, mix, and prepare raw ingredients according to standardized recipes and formulas.
- Operate basic food production machinery (e.g., slicers, mixers, blenders, dicers, fillers, conveyors).
- Conduct basic cooking, baking, frying, or cooling tasks as per schedule.
- Assemble, pack, and label finished food products for storage or shipment.
- Monitor production processes and report any irregularities (e.g., temperature deviations, machine jams).
- Quality & Safety Compliance:
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
- Perform routine quality checks on ingredients and finished products (e.g., weight, size, color, seal integrity).
- Maintain impeccable personal hygiene and wear required protective gear (PPE) like hairnets, gloves, smocks, and safety shoes.
- Cleaning & Sanitation:
- Clean and sanitize all work areas, equipment, and utensils before, during, and after production shifts ("clean-as-you-go").
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble equipment parts as per cleaning schedules.
- Dispose of waste properly and follow color‑coding systems for cleaning tools to prevent cross‑contamination.
- Logistics & Support:
- Load and unload raw materials and supplies.
- Rotate stock following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles in storage areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and notify supervisors of low stock levels.
- Move finished products to the warehouse or loading dock.
- Teamwork & Communication:
- Report directly to a Production Manager.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure line efficiency.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues immediately.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent. A food hygiene certificate (e.g., Level 2 Food Safety) is often required or provided on the job.
Skills
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (e.g., 25kg bags), and work in cold/warm environments.
- Ability to work quickly and reliably in a repetitive task environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic math skills for weighing and measuring.
- Teamwork and good communication.
