Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a talented engineer to manage the implementation of designs and oversee subcontractors in life science projects. The ideal candidate has a BSC or BEng in a related engineering field and 2-6 years of experience in process or clean utility systems. Responsibilities include leading design reviews, participating in site acceptance testing, and ensuring quality control throughout the project. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

  • 2-6 years of relevant experience in process or clean utility systems.
  • Experience in multinational life science projects is preferable.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Take conceptual design through to implementation and handover.
  • Create and review specifications, data sheets, and functional descriptions.
  • Lead system site acceptance testing and manage punchlists.

Job description
Role Purpose:
  • Taking the conceptual design through to implementation and handover
Job Responsibilities:
  • Progressing all elements of design in-line with the Design Checklist
  • Preparation of PFDs, P&IDs, specifications, data sheets and functional descriptions.
  • Pressure loss calculations, equipment sizing, utility, heat and mass balances
  • Process capacity calculations from customer URS
  • Participate in design reviews – with customer and internal Exyte team
  • Production of tender specifications and bid evaluation
  • Defining and agreeing system Sequences of Operation and checking the Controls Engineering design for compliance with requirements;
  • Ensuring the System Supervisor is provided with the current shop and space management drawings, specifications, approved technical submittals and all approved changes in scope;
  • Ensuring the System Supervisor is fully briefed on the awarded scope of work, the tender technical documents and all contractual revisions to tender documentation;
  • Ensuring all interfaces are provided in the correct location, with agreed dimensional requirements and in compliance with specification;
  • Evaluating technical submittals for specifications and client requirement compliance;
  • Approving Test Packs at each step of construction through to completion;
  • Shortlisting and selecting appropriate sub-contractors;
  • Evaluating Sub-Contractor tender offers;
  • Checking the Schedule of Unit Rates and Summary of Tender;
  • Monitoring the quality and speed of installations for the systems under his care;
  • Creating testing and commission passing criteria to the System Supervisor;
  • Scheduling and leading system site acceptance testing, managing punchlist to closure;
  • Financially review and evaluate Sub-Contractor variations and claims
  • Quality control and vendor / subcontractor inspections
  • Preparation of as built documentation and manuals
  • Chairing sub-contractor progress meetings;
  • Chairing Discipline meetings and preparing meeting minutes
  • Stay up to date with technical innovations/market;
  • Support cost estimating exercises
  • Manage, review and approve subcontractor’s detailed design
Job Requirements:
  • BSC or BEng (Hons) Degree in a related engineering field, e.g. Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum years of experience: 2 – 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in design and/or construction of process or clean utility systems.
  • Preferably experience in multinational life science projects, preferably in Pharmaceutical, Nutritional, Biopharmaceutical and Medical devices Industries.
  • Has a clear and structured communication style
  • Is highly structured, systematic and organised
  • Have to be ability to be focused and detail-oriented
  • Able to work independently and professionally with little supervision
  • Remain technically competent in applicable fields of Process Engineering.
  • Understanding of Codes and Engineering Standards of International Clients
  • Conversant in the use of design software
