Job description
1. Project Planning and Design Review

Analyze architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project plans to understand scope, materials, and construction methods.

Collaborate with architects and design engineers to ensure practical feasibility of the design and provide input for improvements.

Assist in preparing construction schedules and timelines using project management software such as Primavera or MS Project.

2. Site Supervision and Execution

Supervise on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with engineering standards, building codes, and safety regulations.

Monitor and inspect work to ensure quality control and adherence to design specifications.

Provide technical guidance to contractors and laborers during different phases of construction.

Resolve technical issues or design challenges that arise during execution.

3. Budgeting and Cost Management

Estimate quantities and cost of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction.

Monitor and control project budgets; help prepare billing reports and cost forecasts.

Evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors and recommend contracts for approval.

4. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance

Ensure all construction activities adhere to occupational safety and health standards.

Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.

Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.

Promote a safety-first culture on the construction site.

5. Communication and Coordination

Serve as a liaison between the office-based design team and the on-site construction team.

Coordinate with multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers, to avoid conflicts and delays.

Conduct regular meetings with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to update progress and resolve issues.

6. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain detailed documentation of construction activities, progress reports, change orders, and as-built drawings.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project reports for review by senior management or clients.

Document and track project variations and delays for claims and contractual matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Educational Background

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Structural Engineering.

Master’s Degree (optional but preferred for senior roles).

Professional certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional) or LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) are added advantages.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction techniques, and materials.

Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, ETABS, Primavera, MS Project, and MS Office.

Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and project lifecycle management tools.

Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.
