Job description

You will be a member of a team responsible for developing the asset management sector across traditional and alternative sectors, including private equity and venture capital.

In this role, you will:

  • Formulate and implement strategies to attract top asset managers across traditional and alternative sectors including hedge funds, private equity and venture capital to establish a presence in Singapore, and to deepen and diversify their capabilities here, such as but not limited to sustainable or impact investing;
  • Develop initiatives to grow and anchor a pool of quality local talent for the asset management industry in Singapore;
  • Promote and facilitate innovation and adoption of technology by asset managers and the ecosystem, such as fund tokenisation and fund settlement utilities; and
  • Foster a robust and conducive market environment across tax, regulations and ancillary services to support the growth and maintain the competitive proposition of the asset management industry in Singapore.

As part of your work, you will actively monitor global trends and developments in the asset management sector, and engage external parties to solicit views and gather feedback, with a view to assessing the implications and developing strategies to strengthen Singapore’s long-term competitiveness as a leading asset management hub.

You will need to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, relevant government agencies, industry members and academic institutes to grow the asset management ecosystem.

You will also be responsible for the account management of a group of asset managers. As the key contact point, you will need to understand the firm’s business models and plans for Singapore, facilitate meetings and process various tax, manpower and technology grant applications to support their expansion in Singapore.

Requirements
  • Experience in the asset management or banking industry and/or relevant work experience in non-financial organisations is preferred
  • Good appreciation of business needs and market realities and demonstrated abilities to make good judgement call
  • Excellent strategic thinking, and strong data and analytical (including competitiveness analysis) skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to positively influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead organization-wide projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A good team player who is proactive and motivated with keen interest in strategy and developmental work
