Overview
Looking for DCS Engineer with cloud architecture and VMware experience (One Year Contract)
Responsibilities
- Validation and Monitoring: Hands-on support for virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter; monitor VM health and performance (CPU, memory, disk usage, and network performance) in the new alternate hypervisor environment; familiar with vMotion, DRS, HA, and VM snapshots.
- Guest OS and Networking: Familiar with Red Hat and Windows servers; understand networking in a virtualized environment; troubleshooting and incident management.
- VM Migration and Firmware Patching: Experience in supporting VM migrations and firmware patching; case logging with vendors and follow-up actions including logs upload.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Experience in virtualization monitoring and issue resolution; diagnose performance or compatibility issues post-migration; collaborate with stakeholders for support; resolve migration failures.
- Incident, Problem, and Change Management: Provide support for critical incidents and disruptions; participate in change management processes.
- System Optimization and Tuning: VM performance tuning with engineering to optimize in the new environment; review resource allocation (CPU, memory, storage) and reallocate as needed; automate regular maintenance tasks (performance monitoring, backups, resource utilization).
- Security and Compliance: Review security configurations post-migration (firewalls, access control, encryption) and ensure VM compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science
- 12 years of related experience in DC environments with VMware knowledge and network architecture
- Willingness to work night hours during project migrations
