COENS Energy is assisting a client in the marine and offshore sector to recruit a contracts professional. The role provides commercial and contractual guidance across projects, supporting senior management and project teams in mitigating risks, managing claims, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams from tendering through construction to project completion and payment.
- Support contract administration review during tender stage to ensure optimal commercial positions. Collaborate with procurement and subcontracting teams to ensure compliance with key contract terms and frame agreements.
- Track project milestones, verify claims, and manage variation orders in coordination with project management.
- Identify potential disputes or delays and develop mitigation strategies with Legal and project teams.
- Manage claims, disputes, and settlements, ensuring resolution in line with contractual obligations.
- Guide internal teams (Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Subcontracting) on contract deliverables and compliance.
- Conduct workshops to familiarize project teams with contractual risks and opportunities.
- Continuously review and improve processes, policies, and systems supporting contract management and administration.
- Enforce governance and risk management practices to prevent issues during project execution, contract administration, and cost management.
Key Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in contracts or commercial roles within marine, offshore, or shipbuilding industries.
- Familiarity with project contracts, variation orders, notice periods, cost control and subcontractor management.
- Experience in claims management and dispute mitigation.
- Understanding of project execution processes and record retention requirements.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and high integrity.
- Proficient in English; ability to read/write Bahasa Indonesia or Mandarin is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to regional shipyards as required.
