Job Purpose

Provide specialist support and interventions for students individually or in small groups as directed by the supervising teacher or HOD. Assist teachers, staff and the Leadership Team with the organisation and running of the Elementary School. Support students in all aspects of the school day. Support the teaching and learning of Physical Education in Bilingual programme classes. Lead the coaching and development of sport within the co‑curricular enrichment programme. Further raise participation and enjoyment of sport within SJI International. Implement Chinese cultural activities such as Kung Fu, traditional Chinese sports, and games, enriching students' cultural understanding. Enhance language exposure for Bilingual Programme students by introducing Chinese instructions naturally during PE activities. Support the PE teacher to maintain curriculum consistency across both Mainstream and Bilingual Programmes, ensuring equal skill development and learning expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in ensuring the well‑being and safety of the Elementary School Students.
  • Support teachers with the delivery of the curriculum and learning activities.
  • Support the teachers with the provision and organisation of learning resources.
  • Be a role model for Lasallian Values and School Vision, Mission, Values and the Virtues Programme.
  • Introduce Chinese cultural activities such as Kung Fu, traditional Chinese games, and Dragon Dance movements to support both physical development and cultural learning.
  • Assist PE teachers in delivering lessons by incorporating Chinese elements, either as a co‑teacher or leading specific segments in Chinese.
PE Department Specific Tasks and Duties
Teaching Responsibilities
  • Support PE staff in delivery of PE lessons.
  • Assist the Head of Sport & PE Faculty to organise and manage appropriate learning environments and resources.
Coaching Responsibilities
  • Coach and manage certain sports teams, as identified by the Head of Sports & PE.
  • Support the Head of Sports Activities in organising the participation of students in the CCA programme.
  • Support the Head of Sports Activities in organising and running inter‑school tournaments or competitions.
  • Accompany various sports teams for inter‑school competitions, as required.
  • Help and support in the organisation of intra‑school / house activities when required.
General Duties
  • Administration tasks related to the PE department and sports CCA provision.
  • Show diligence in resource allocation and deployment and maintain the tidiness of the PE storage areas.
  • Take responsibility for the supervision and for monitoring the maintenance and development of identified sports facilities (This may include the following areas: Pool; Sports Hall; Gymnasium; associated changing facilities; Sports fields) at agreed times of the school day.
  • Take responsibility for the organisation of the sports kit for all teams for sports fixtures.
  • Show due care in risk assessment and health and safety procedures, and participate in regular risk assessment reviews.
Specific Tasks and Duties
  • Prepare learning materials for the teacher by making, photocopying or organising resources.
  • Observe and monitor student behaviour in the classroom, during transitions and at recess reporting any matters of concern to the appropriate teacher.
  • Assist the teacher during special events in the class and duringschool wide celebrations.
  • Create displays and signage in the classroom and corridor areas.
  • Sort, audit and organise classroom resources in preparation for the next term.
Curriculum and Pedagogy
  • Provide specialist support and interventions for students individually or in small groups as directed by the supervising teacher or HOD.
  • Liaise regularly with the supervising teacher or HOD regarding planning and teaching of identified groups or individual students.
  • Use 1:1 and small group support strategies, resources and programme.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support tasks as directed by the Head of Dept.
  • Assess and feedback suggested next steps for each student supported through 1:1 and small group tasks, to the Head of Dept and relevant grade level teachers via the Learning Diary.
Communication
  • Communicate with teaching and administrative staff, Teaching Assistants, TA Resources Coordinator, the Leadership Team and students effectively, respectfully and in a timely manner.
  • Report to the Vice Principal any matters related to child safeguarding, Health and Safety, discipline or personal concerns.
Collaboration and Relationship Management
  • Work collaboratively and purposefully with assigned teachers and other Teaching Assistants.
  • Support teachers with the organisation and management of the students as a class, in groups or individually whilst promoting high standards of behaviour and discipline.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly as part of a team that supports the academic, social and emotional development of each child.
Self‑Evaluation and Quality Assurance
  • Participate in the school’s evaluation process as a reflective practitioner and use this as an opportunity for professional growth.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development through a range of opportunities such as professional reading, in‑school or external workshops.
General Areas of Responsibility
  • Be an advocate of the school and its decisions during interactions with students, staff and the community.
  • Lead in nurturing a Lasallian Catholic ethos by building upon the legacy and tradition of the school firmly anchored in Faith, Service and Community.

Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree.
  • Physical Education or Sports Coaching experience within a school context.
  • Minimum 3 years of working with students in a school context.
  • Proficient in both English and Chinese language.
