Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Overview
  • The Business Liaison is responsible for supporting the Senior Business Liaison on various reporting and communication activities that Singlife conducts regularly and irregularly with its parent company, Sumitomo Life.
  • This position requires knowledge of both the Singlife Group and Sumitomo Life Group companies. It is essential to understand the situations and needs of both companies and to have the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute strategies necessary for effective and efficient communication.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support Singlife in executing appropriate reporting and communication to the parent company in accordance with group-based governance framework.
  • Facilitate smooth business operations by clearly conveying the background and expectations of requests or directives from the parent company to Singlife's management.
  • Support the parent company in accurately understanding Singlife's management situation by appropriately reporting the company's operational status and business environment necessary for group management.
  • Support Singlife's contributions to group synergy, taking into account the strengths and challenges of the various companies within the Sumitomo Life Group.
Requirements
  • Language Skills: Fluent in Japanese and English. Effective communication with stakeholders from the parent company and within the organization is essential.
  • Experience: Work experience in a life insurance company, particularly in roles related to corporate governance, business planning, finance and accounting, asset management, and sales management. Experience in a Japanese life insurance company is highly desirable.
  • Cultural Understanding: Understanding of Japanese business practices and the ability to build trust with stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills to derive actions or plans that are acceptable to both parties, while understanding the underlying situations and expectations of two parties with different positions and perspectives.
  • Self-Motivated: Proactive, achievement-oriented, responsible, and autonomous.
  • Team Player: Ability to achieve goals as a team while collaborating with various stakeholders.
