A leading contracting firm in Saudi Arabia is seeking a Senior Material Engineer to ensure material compliance with specifications and oversee all materials testing. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Material Management or Engineering and 13 years of total experience, including 5 years on the job. This role emphasizes compliance, quality assurance, and support for engineering initiatives.
The Senior Material Engineer is responsible for the technical selection of suitable project materials, ensuring full compliance with project and Local Authority specification requirements. This position also ensures that all materials complies with the specification and are approved by the consultant and/or statutory authorities.
Oversees all activities related to materials testing.
Ensures compliance with specifications of all materials and legal requirements.
Ensures accurate material test certification and valid certification documentation is available at all times.
Leads and support teams in enhancing the competencies through facilitating effective coaching and mentoring.
Develops an understanding of specifications and client requirements to allow research, design and development of materials and working practices to ensure compliance with specifications.
Ensures understanding of the properties and benefits of different materials meaning to delivers innovative designs that can reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Awareness of all local and international specification codes.
Establishes library of all requirements for ease of reference.
Prepares and maintains detailed material tracking schedules as per procedure.
Knowledge of Material Engineering parameters.
Ensures for all submittals correct Engineering parameters are considered.
In depth knowledge of specification requirements for material approval purposes.
Ensures all material submittals comply with Project and International specifications.
Identification of compliant materials both locally and internationally.
Ensures proper identification of compliant materials both locally and internationally.
Identification of VE cost saving opportunities.
Reviews all material requirements and identify any VE or cost saving opportunities.
Material test certification to be available.
Ensures accurate material test certification and valid certification documentation is available at all times.
Onsite material testing requirements to be fully
Coordinates and oversees all onsite material testing, ensure that all such testing with spec and codes.
Ensures weekly report detailing exact progress of all material requirements and areas of concern/delay.
Ensures all shop drawings are prepared accurately followed by all as-built drawings.
Close out technical submittals to be made available.
Closes out material submittals to be made available and ensures that during the course of the Project, all required material submittals required for close out are prepared in advance.
Leads and support teams in enhancing the competencies through facilitating effective coaching and mentoring.
Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies
