Job summary

Parsons Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Design Services in Riyadh to lead electrical design reviews for stations, tunnels, and depots within transportation infrastructure. You will assess low‑voltage distribution, lighting, earthing, and protective coordination while coordinating with BIM and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, design review, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Experience on large infrastructure projects including railway or transportation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review electrical design packages across concept, schematic, detailed design, IFC, and as‑built stages for stations, tunnels, depots, and ancillary facilities.
  • Assess low‑voltage power distribution systems and associated diagrams and switchgear.
  • Validate electrical calculations including load flow, short‑circuit analysis, and voltage drop.
  • Review earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems for compliance.
  • Assess lighting and emergency lighting designs against safety requirements.
  • Verify interfaces with smoke control, tunnel ventilation, fire pumps, and essential power systems.
  • Review design deliverables, submittals, datasheets, RFI responses, and FAT/SAT/ISAT docs.
  • Ensure submissions comply with standards and document control requirements.
  • Support testing/commissioning activities and participate in startup when required.
  • Coordinate with architecture, structural, mechanical, and rail systems teams to resolve interfaces.
  • Promote safety, sustainability, and quality through technical reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review electrical design packages across concept, schematic, detailed design, IFC, and as‑built stages for stations, tunnels, viaducts, depots, and ancillary facilities.
  • Assess low‑voltage power distribution systems, including single‑line diagrams, riser diagrams, switchboards, motor control centers, automatic transfer switches, distribution boards, load schedules, and protection coordination studies.
  • Validate electrical calculations and engineering studies covering load assessments, cable sizing, load flow, short‑circuit analysis, voltage drop, and protective device coordination.
  • Review earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems for compliance with project requirements and applicable international standards.
  • Assess lighting and emergency lighting designs, calculations, and reports against operational, safety, and life‑safety requirements.
  • Verify electrical interfaces with smoke control, tunnel ventilation, pressurization systems, fire pumps, fire alarm systems, essential power systems, and related MEP systems.
  • Review design deliverables, shop drawings, material submittals, manufacturer data, datasheets, method statements, RFIs, and technical documents.
  • Ensure electrical submissions comply with project standards, document control requirements, design criteria, and authority expectations.
  • Support testing and commissioning activities by reviewing FAT, SAT, and ISAT documentation and participating in testing or startup activities when required.
  • Review electrical and instrumentation design specifications and approved manufacturer lists, then provide technical recommendations for approval.
  • Coordinate with architecture, structural, mechanical, fire engineering, rail systems, BIM, construction, and project controls teams to resolve clashes and design interfaces.
  • Participate in BIM‑based coordination and support integrated project delivery across electrical and multidisciplinary workstreams.
  • Promote safety‑by‑design principles, sustainability, quality, maintainability, and operational reliability through disciplined technical review.
  • Identify design risks, interface gaps, missing information, technical discrepancies, and non‑compliant submissions.
  • Prepare technical review reports, comment registers, presentation material, engineering notes, and recommendations for project leadership.
  • Support construction and project teams with electrical clarifications, design responses, technical assessments, and review closeout actions.
Ideal Profile / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, design review, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Experience working on large‑scale civil, infrastructure, industrial, railway, metro, transit, or transportation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local authority requirements.
  • Detailed understanding of electrical systems, materials, equipment selection, power distribution, protection coordination, lighting, emergency power, and engineering design principles.
  • Ability to review electrical drawings, calculations, shop drawings, material submittals, technical reports, method statements, RFIs, and testing documentation.
  • Experience reviewing electrical interfaces with MEP, fire engineering, tunnel systems, ventilation, life‑safety systems, and rail systems is preferred.
  • Ability to perform electrical calculations and engineering assessments using industry‑standard software tools.
  • Proficiency in ETAP, DIALux, AGI32, or similar electrical engineering software is preferred.
  • Experience working in BIM‑enabled and multidisciplinary project environments is advantageous.
  • Previous GCC project experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, technical review, coordination, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work with consultants, contractors, clients, design teams, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Detail‑oriented approach with a strong focus on compliance, safety, quality, constructability, and operational performance.
